Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Olive oil spray substitute with butter about 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add olive oil to the mini cast iron frying pan and place it in the air fryer basket. Preheat the air fryer at 180C / 360F for 2 minutes. Make sure that the oil is covering the bottom of the bottom so that eggs do not stick.
  • Remove the air fryer basket from the air fryer. Crack an egg into each of the hot cast iron pans or the aluminum baking pan if that is what you are using
  • Air fry the eggs at 180C/360F for 2 minutes for sunny-side up.
  • If you want an easy over egg, carefully flip the egg in the pan and continue to air fry for about 30 seconds. Alternatively, let the residual heat cook it for the remaining seconds.
  • For medium over egg, cook for 1 minute longer (3 minutes total)and up to 2 minutes for over hard eggs.
  • Season the fried eggs with salt and freshly cracked black pepper or however you desired. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Tips
  • Don't despair if you don't get it right the first time, remember all air fryers are not made the same. Keep practicing and you will get what works for you, temperature and timing-wise.
  • Make sure you time the cooking of the eggs correctly so that you don't end up with rubbery or overcooked eggs.
  • Make sure to use a non-stick pan for the eggs so that it slides off easily. If you do not have a mini cast iron frying pan, you can use an aluminum baking pan that will fit in your air fryer basket. Just spray it with cooking oil or butter before adding the eggs.
  • If you prefer your eggs to be lacy and crispy on the edges then use a wide oven-safe pan as that will allow the eggs to spread out enough to achieve the desired doneness and don't overcrowd the pan.
  • Make sure the pan and oil are preheated before cooking for a few minutes to ensure good results. The eggs will continue to cook a little even after you have taken them out of the air fryer, so keep that in mind. Also, remove the eggs immediately from the air fryer as the residual heat in the air fryer can overcook the eggs and make them rubbery.
