    Easy homemade parmesan potato wedges

Are you looking for an easy and quick potato appetizer to entertain or serve as a side dish, then this oven-baked parmesan potato wedges is to the rescue.

It is simple and fuss-free, there is no need to peel the potatoes, soak in water or parboil before baking. A straightforward recipe, all you need to do is cut the potatoes into wedges, season then bake until crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

This is definitely better than store-bought and healthy. Making it at home means you do not have to worry about bland or oil-packed wedges.

    Potato wedges seasoning

I seasoned my potatoes with these simple pantry staples ingredients smoked paprika, onion granules, garlic granules, parsley, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. I added little oil as this helps the seasoning stick on the spud.

    How to cut potato wedges

Start with a clean and dry potato. You will be needing a sharp knife and a chopping board for this job.

Place the large potato on a chopping board and cut it into halves lengthwise. Then cut one half into four wedges, smaller-sized potatoes can be cut into 2 or 3 pieces.

If using a large spud then you should have about 8 to 10 wedges from one potato depending on the size.

How to make parmesan potato wedges

Preheat the oven at 200C/400F and prepare the baking tray, if using a non-stick sheet, there will be no need to line with parchment paper, simply spray with a cooking spray and set aside

Wash and pat the potatoes dry then cut into wedges. Transfer the wedges to a large bowl and drizzle with oil and mix to combine with your hands. Add smoked paprika, garlic granules, onion granules, parsley, grated parmesan, salt, and pepper and toss to combine.

Transfer the seasoned potatoes to a baking sheet and spread them in a single layer. Bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes flipping in halfway through or until the wedges are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Remove it from the oven, garnish with more parmesan cheese and parsley and serve as desired.

How to cook potato wedges in the air fryer

If cooking in the air fryer, preheat the air fryer and spray with cooking oil. Season the potatoes as described above and spread them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 200C/400F for 12 to 15 minutes depending on the thickness of the wedges. Flip it once to ensure even cooking.

    Tips

    • Make sure to cut the wedges into similar sizes so that they cook evenly and almost at the same time.
    • Cook the potatoes at a high temperature to ensure crispness
    • line the baking sheet with a parchment paper if not using a non-stick baking sheet.

    How to store

Potato wedges are best served immediately when it is still hot or warm. It tends to go less crunchy as it cools, however, it can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Make sure it cools completely, transfer to an airtight bowl, and store in the fridge

In the freezer, you can freeze them after they have been cooked. Let it cool completely and

Yes and lower in calories, provided it is baked and not fried. When buying prepacked store-bought potato wedges, ensure to check the label as most times, they are cooked in oil and it is of no good if you are looking for something healthy.

If you are in the UK then the best option is Maris piper. It is high in starch and with less moisture. These characteristics of the spud are what make it great for wedges or fries. Maris piper equivalent includes Idaho, russet, or Yukon gold.
