Ingredients
Let’s talk about the ingredients that go into making fresh dill dip, you can either use fresh or dried herbs. Parsley is a popular choice of ingredient for it but I usually leave it out as I believe it has no place in it. Feel free to add it fresh or dried as both are fine. Here is the list of ingredients you will need to make yours.
Mayonnaise: good quality full fat or light mayonnaise. If you are feeling adventurous, you can simply make your own mayonnaise at home.
Sour cream: Full fat sour cream all the way. Substitute with Greek yogurt for a healthier option
Fresh dillweed
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Cayenne pepper, this is optional but add it to taste for a little bit of kick
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to season
How to make fresh vegetable dill dip in easy steps
In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper, and mix to combine. Cover with a cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving for the flavors to develop. For optimum flavor make it one day ahead before serving.
Vegetable ideas to serve it with
I used the following vegetables but you are not limited to this list. You can use any fresh vegetables of choice.
Mini cucumber
mini plum tomatoes or cherry tomatoes
bell peppers: you can use any colour of bell pepper of choice, I tend to leave out the green ones as it can be bitter sometimes .
Carrots
Celery sticks
Other dipping veggies option includes
Broccoli
Asparagus
Romaine lettuce
Mangetouts
Cauliflower
Radishes
Mushrooms
Tips
For cheesy flavour, sub sour cream for cream cheese.
serve in shot glasses so it is easy for your guests to eat up without double dipping. Simply add the dip to the shot glasses and add vegetable sticks.
How long does dill dip last
you can store it in the fridge for up to 7 days, I prefer 3 days especially if I use sour cream, it doesn’t have a long shelf life. Dill dip is not suitable for freezing.
