How to season lamb chops (Ingredients)

My lamb chops cutlets is marinated with the following simple ingredients

Fresh rosemary; substitute with dried rosemary

    Olive oil

    Minced garlic

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper as needed

How to cook lamb chops in the air fryer

To a small bowl, add olive oil, chopped rosemary, garlic, salt, and black pepper and mix to combine

Brush the marinade all over the lamb chops, cover with a plastic wrap and leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the air fryer at 200C/400F for 5 minutes

Place lamb chops in the air fryer basket and air fry for 8 minutes flipping it halfway through the cooking time.

Remove the lamb immediately from the air fryer basket and rest on a plate, covered with foil and kitchen towel for 3-5 minutes. Serve as desired with gremolata, tzatziki, and lemon wedge.

    Tips

    • Do not stack the lamb chops in the air fryer.
    • Flip the lamb chops halfway so that it cooks evenly.
    • Use any favorite seasoning of choice.
    • Remove the lamb from the air fryer when the temperature registers about 5C/41F than your desired doneness, the meat continues to cook as it rests.

    How to store Lamb Chops

Cooked lamb chops can be stored in several ways. I prefer to store whatever is left of mine wrapped in aluminum foil for 2 to 4 days in the fridge. It can also be stored in the fridge in airtight containers for up to 4 days but if you would be using it at a much later date, it is advisable and more healthy to store it in the freezer for up to 3 months using airtight freezer bags.

Lamb chops reheat very well in the oven or air fryer. Make sure it has come to room temperature if you would be reheating it from the freezer and if using the oven, ensure you preheat before reheating the lamb chops.

    FAQs

How long to cook lamb chops in air fryer

This will depend on the thickness of the lamb chops, the temperature cooked at, and the brand of the air fryer.  Lamb meat is best cooked pink and that can be achieved in the air fryer.  Cook for 7-8 minutes at 200C/400F or 8-10 minutes at 190C/380F.

How to tell when lamb is cooked?

Your best kitchen appliance when cooking any type of meat is an instant thermometer. This will ensure you cook your meat right every time. As a rule of thumb, the internal temperature of cooked lamb is 60-65C / 149F for medium-rare, 65-70C / 158F for medium, and 70C/158F for medium-well done.  You can also do the finger test but I highly recommend using an instant thermometer as you won't need to second guess the result.

Can I cook raw lamb chops in the air fryer

Yes, you can cook raw lamb chops in the air fryer or any other cut of lamb like the loin, ribs and more in the air fryer. The process is easy and straightforward, season the lamb and cook in a preheated air fryer until your desired doneness is achieved.

Resting meat covered or uncovered, which is best

There is a lot of debate out there on whether you should cover your cooked meat to let it rest or leave uncovered.  In my opinion, covering the meat with foil and letting it rest for 3-5 minutes, traps in the heat which gently finishes cooking your meat while maintaining all the juices inside. It is also important to rest the meat on a cold plate (room temperature).
